For 75 years, CBC/Radio-Canada has led charity fundraising activities that bring together their employees and the community to accomplish great things.
While these activities happen throughout the year, the Winter holiday season particularly calls on Canadians to help others. From concerts and literary readings, to open house events, radio- and telethons, to auctions, bake sales, turkey drives, holiday sing-ins, and simply passing the hat, CBC/Radio-Canada is there to facilitate giving in every part of the country.
These activities raise critical funds for local charities. They also help to build community, bringing joy to those who give and those who receive, and remind citizens about the importance of volunteering and donating.
Here is a sampling of fundraising activities in which CBC/Radio-Canada and its employees have involved themselves.
In 2011, CBC helped Canadians across the country to raise a combined total of considerably over $3.7 million for local charities and to collect 11,778 kg of food for the hungry.
Radio-Canada again participated in La grande guignolée des médias. In concert with their francophone media colleagues, Radio-Canada employees helped to bring in more than $2.3 million from generous donors.
CBC Montreal also raised nearly $15,000 for Head and Hands.
For 75 years, CBC/Radio-Canada’s networks and employees have taken great pleasure in helping to make fundraising, awareness-raising and charity events a success across the country. As the Corporation increases its regional presence through its strategic plan, 2015: Everyone, Every way, such activities will continue as part of the national public broadcaster’s contributions to strengthening Canadian society.
Join us in making this year's fundraising events a great success for Canadians!
